Imagery Analysis

Imagery Analysis

Aerial reconnaissance is the process of obtaining information by various sensors using the Electro-Magnetic (EM) spectrum. These sensors include (but are not limited to) Optical, Infra Red and Radar. The process is often referred to as remote sensing.

The product is key when using remote sensing, and sadly it is normally the last “real” consideration. Its’ use can only be maximized by understanding the type of platform-to-sensor limitations.

Once understood, then the limits of the systems are bound only by the operators/analysts understanding of the format in which the product is presented.

The following formats can be discussed in consultation for your specific training needs:

  • Electro-Optical (EO)
  • Infra-Red (IR)
  • Synthetic Aperture RADAR (SAR)
  • RADAR
  • LIDAR
  • Commercial Satellite Imagery (CSI)
  • Moving Target Indicator (MTI)
  • Full Motion Video (FMV)*
  • Sensors and uses
  • Mission Planning
  • Products (how to best present to a customer)
  • 3D and Geospatial

*FMV is essential to a first line operator, for example, a Police Camera Operator
